TIME MACHINE: June 19, 2007 100% Flash Free Here's the index page of elephont.com from many moons ago. OK, more like 5 years ago. I've been around a while. The little guy on the right would blink if you rolled your cursor over him. AMAZING! |

TIME MACHINE: May 9, 2007 Stay Scratty LEFT: I drew this as a sketch back in (looks like) 2002. The big rat is holding up a cut-out sign that says 'REVOLT.' Not based on the skateshop from Chicago with the same name, but just as an idea about rats revolting. RIGHT: I found this buried in my hard drive. An old version of my desktop. Before it got cluttered. Seriously, if you think that's bad, you should see them now. |

TIME MACHINE: May 8, 2007 Super sketchy About 2 years ago, I had this grand scheme to scan in a bunch of my sketchbook pages. And if I could have cloned myself and made days 48 hours instead of 24, I may have succeeded. Unfortunately, I didn't. I'm still thinking about putting out a book of just sketches because I have about 20 sketchbooks full of work. Unfortunately, my journals also double as journals in a way so maybe I'll just keep them under my bed where they belong. Here are two pages. 253,000 to go. |

TIME MACHINE: May 7, 2007 Mouse Parade Yes, years before there was Wolf Parade, back in 1998, there was Mouse Parade. I just posted this because it's another example of trying to work with generic shapes to form little creatures...in this case..(very loosely) Mice. Or something. As much as I wanted to go in and correct this thing before I posted it, I didn't touch it. Lots of obvious problems with this but I posted it just as I dug it up on my hard drive. This never made it onto a product or anything. I have about 2 million little scenes like this where I was just practicing drawing with a computer. This is just one. I always get people asking me whether I use a stylus or scan sketches in for the graphics I do. The truth is, I draw everything by mouse. I can draw better with a mouse these days than I can a pencil. I tried a stylus one time...it was really strange to work with. Like drawing with someone else's hand or something. I stuck with my mouse, thanks. ![]() |

TIME MACHINE: May 7, 2007
Pigor Before I ever had a drawing program for Macintosh, I used to use a program called Pagemaker to draw animals and creatures because it came pre-loaded with all kinds of shapes. It would be a process of using these shapes to make other shapes. The hard part was that you had to mask off parts if you needed, say, half a circle or something. It really played a part in what some might later refer to as my 'style.' It was a ghetto way to work. If you look closely at a lot of my older stuff, you can see pieces sticking out here and there that didn't get totally masked off. I was scard of computers for a long time...I didn't trust them, I didn't like them and I didn't really know how to use one properly. And I didn't even own a computer until 1999. At that point, my boss at the time (Mike Hill) bought one for me. It was a pretty amazing thing to do. PS: If there is anyone who works at Apple reading this, can you do something about that damn Spinning Rainbow Wheel of Death? Some refer to it as Satan's Beach Ball. Either way, I almost threw my laptop across the room last night, thanks. Help me out with that. . ![]() |
